they are back in the studio with Charlie, and former Sweet Sensation member Jenae Colon is putting together a dance troupe that will, combined with these killer trax, lite up the stage like never before. Digital Meltdown has also had music used in several episodes of the MTV series MADE, the movie TAP starring Gregory Hines, dozens of websites and several DJs are using tracks for their mixtapes.
Digital Meltdown was the brainchild of Charlie Dee Diaz, an idea that came about in 1985-86, when Charlie was working with Ted Currier on such projects as Sly Fox, Sweet Sensation, The Boogie Boys, and Tony Terry. While most young wannabe producers would be happy working with Ted and breaking new ground in the genre they were calling “Freestyle” Charlie wasn’t happy about the limitations put upon him by “Platinum Vibe Productions” and their idea of a dance track. He didn’t just want to make the “dance” mix thumpin, he wanted the radio mix to kick some ass too. So he put together some tracks, pitched the idea to Capitol A&R man Kenny Ortiz, and they combined ideas to form The Black Havana album. Kenny let Charlie do what he did best…make smokin dance tracks. Add some Aldo Marin, and Mantronix, and you get a crazy dance album. Classic. Flash Forward to 2010 and you will find Charlie Dee sitting behind the controls of his own studio, making beats for t.v. shows and tracks for the club. Now the name Digital Meltdown is not merely a dance group, but a production team of one. Digital Meltdown is in the studio working with some local talent that Charlie says is “off the hook”…You will hear that soon.
The album is called “BreakBeat Junkie” It is a mixture of Techno, Trance, Hip-Hop, House, Jungle and whatever else you need to dance. When asked what type of music the album is made up of, Charlie answers”Some badass beatz, that you can listen to in the club, or the car. You can hear alot of freestyle feelings in there too. “This album is going to be different then most commercial recordings. I have about 23 tracks that I want to put on the album, but theres not enough room. I was thinking of a double album but then this idea hit me. Put short, tight versions on the CD, then all the special remixes can be released as downloads and be available only from the Breakoutbeatz.com website. I think that would work and be a new way to make your remixes available to fans right away
